The bachelor’s degree in neuroscience at the 推荐杏吧原创 provides interdisciplinary training in modern neuroscience from the cellular to systems level. Offered jointly by the Department of Psychology and the Department of Biology, the program integrates coursework in biology, psychology and general science to support critical evaluation of research in the field. You develop foundational knowledge and analytical skills that prepare you for graduate study in neuroscience-related disciplines, including cognitive science, biology, biotechnology and medicine.
The Institute coordinates the multiple neuroscience education and research programs by supporting strategic planning, facilitating the development of interdisciplinary education and research and communicating the good news about the University's work in the neurosciences to the community.
The College of Science offers educational opportunities in pure and applied physical sciences, earth sciences, life sciences, and mathematics. Professors in the College frequently earn statewide teaching excellence awards and are pioneers in their respective fields, with access to high-powered scientific facilities and resources to perform research on all seven continents. The College also encompasses three public museums that offer research and community engagement opportunities: the iconic Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center, the Museum of Natural History and the W. M. Keck Earth Science and Mineral Engineering Museum.
The NevadaTeach program at the 推荐杏吧原创 provides you with all of the coursework to pursue a teaching license at the middle or high school level, while earning a comprehensive and marketable degree in your STEM discipline. Open the door to a world of career options while helping to improve education in Nevada.
By nature an interdisciplinary field, a major in neuroscience prepares graduates for a range of careers in the life and medical sciences. Because a degree in neuroscience also trains graduates in skills like problem-solving, communication and critical thinking, graduates may also move on to careers in fields including business, public policy or education.
Many careers in the life and medical sciences require further study—either a master's or doctoral degree—or a professional degree in a field such as nursing, medicine or pharmacology. However, graduates with a bachelor's degree in neuroscience may find work in entry-level positions such as laboratory technician or research assistant. Students are encouraged to get research experience while in school or find internships with local companies that match your interests to start building your resume before you graduate.
