Who is considered a freshman applicant?

You are a freshman applicant if you:

  • Are applying during your senior year of high school or home school (with or without college coursework); or
  • Have already graduated high school and have no college coursework; or
  • Have already graduated high school and have completed 23 or fewer transferable college credits

A GED certificate alone cannot be used for freshman admission.

Freshman admission requirements

If you meet the freshman definition above, here’s what you’ll need to attend the University:

Minimum 3.0 weighted academic GPA1 in core courses.

  • 4 units English
  • 3 units Math (Algebra I or higher)
  • 3 units Natural Science
  • 3 units Social Science

How to apply as a new freshman at the ÍÆ¼öÐÓ°ÉÔ­´´

Follow these steps to complete your application, submit your required documents and stay on track for your admission decision.

Use the to create your user account. You will receive a temporary PIN via email to begin your application.
The PIN unlocks access to the full application and only takes a few minutes to arrive.

The application portal will guide you through the online application for your student type.* Once you have completed all required sections, review your information and click the Finalize Application button to submit.
Submitting your application officially starts your admission review. There is no application fee for domestic freshman applicants, so you can submit your application as soon as you’re ready.
*Returning students must complete a returning student application for readmission.

After submission, you will receive a confirmation email. Within 24 to 48 hours you will receive your NSHE ID and instructions for activating MyNevada.
MyNevada is your student portal where you check your application status and find your next steps.

Your high school, college or International Baccalaureate (IB) program may upload official transcripts or send them directly to the Office of Admissions and Records.
Official transcripts are required to complete your admission review.

You can upload your immunization records online, or submit them by mail, fax, email or in person to the Office of Admissions and Records.
Proof of immunization is required before you can register for classes. See immunization requirements

Request that your SAT or ACT scores be sent directly from the testing agency to the University.
Test scores are not required for admission, but they are required for most first-year scholarships and may help with course placement.

Authorized school staff may upload official score reports using the Test Score Upload Portal.
